What technical features should a football shirt have?

Many big brands use special technologies to make the football shirt as comfortable as possible! Nike, for example, uses Dri-Fit technology. This technology is specially designed to quickly wick away sweat, so clothing stays dry for as long as possible. Jako has KeepDry technology for this, Erima calls it Quickdry technology, and Adidas uses its ClimaLite technology. All these technologies offer the same benefits: they keep the shirt (and therefore the body) dry and fresh!

A football shirt is also often fitted with a mesh back for extra ventilation. This is definitely handy on a hot day. Too cold for a short-sleeve football shirt? Then you can also choose a long-sleeve football shirt. Still too cold for that? Then you could wear a thermal shirt underneath the football shirt!

Which materials are suitable for football shirts?

Football shirts are mostly made from polyester, and not without reason! Polyester regulates moisture, dries quickly and is breathable! On top of that, polyester football shirts also keep their nice shape and colour for a long time.

Cheap football shirts are sometimes made from cotton, but this material is really much less suitable for sportswear! Cotton has the property of absorbing moisture, which means the football shirt stays wet and becomes a bit heavier. In winter, the wet shirt can also cause the body to cool down significantly. For your own comfort, it's therefore advisable to buy a polyester football shirt!

Tip

It's advisable to wash the football shirt as soon as possible after use (or within a maximum of one day). Sweat can damage the material, which affects the quality of the shirt. Once the football shirt comes out of the washing machine, it's best to let it dry on a drying rack.
