Wrist, elbow and knee protection
Wrist guards during skating
Wrist guards are indispensable even for the most experienced skaters, as when you fall, you will reflexively throw your hands forward to catch yourself. Wrist guards prevent you from breaking your wrists during a fall, but they also help prevent abrasions!
Knee pads and elbow pads during skating
It is important that the knee and elbow pads do not shift, but it is also important that the pads do not restrict your movement too much. The hard shell of a knee pad and an elbow pad is smooth, allowing you to slide during a fall. This distributes the impact of the fall and reduces the risk of injury.
Precautions
Prevention is better than cure, so we would like to give you some tips to prevent you from heading towards the ground in the first place:
- Start with a warm-up and end with a cool-down, this way you prepare your muscles for what's to come;
- Don't attempt tricks if you don't have confidence that you can do them;
- A wet road surface can be slippery, so keep this in mind when skating in the rain or just after a rain shower;
- Look carefully at the road surface ahead of you. Do you see holes, branches, leaves, or other obstacles? Try to avoid them or reduce speed to pass over them at an appropriate pace.
