Types of swimming goggles

There are different types of swimming goggles. Various brands offer these goggles for men, women, and children. The most important thing is that a swimming goggle fits well on the head. When purchasing swimming goggles, you can pay attention to whether they are adjustable. If the nose bridge is adjustable, it can be done in different ways. If the nose bridge contains the monobloc system, it adjusts automatically and does not need manual adjustment. A nose bridge can also have an adjustable system, allowing you to adjust the goggles yourself. There is also a system with interchangeable nose bridges and 3 different sizes.

The color of the lenses is also something to consider when purchasing swimming goggles. If you swim in an outdoor pool or in a pool with a lot of light, opt for goggles with dark or photochromic lenses. Photochromic lenses automatically adjust to the ambient light. In a pool with low light, it is better to choose goggles with clear or light-colored lenses.

Generally, larger goggles are more comfortable, but if you are a competitive swimmer, opt for smaller goggles. A smaller goggle offers less resistance. If you swim indoors as a competitive swimmer, streamlining is the most important aspect. If you also swim outside of competitions, you will need goggles that provide a wider field of vision and protection against the sun.

Maintenance

Consider the following points to maintain the quality of your swimming goggles and extend their lifespan:

  • Rinse your goggles with clear/cold water after each use
  • Do not leave your goggles in sunlight. Sunlight can damage the elastic and some other parts
  • Protect your goggles, especially the lenses, from salt and grease
  • Do not touch the lenses on the inside, not even with a cloth. The anti-fog layer can be damaged

Tip

The straps of the goggles should not be too tight. Ensure that your goggles fit well and are comfortable!
