Outdoor Rainwear
What is good rain gear?
If you are going for a walk and want to be prepared for anything, we recommend taking a set of rain gear with you. This weighs almost nothing and if you get caught in a rain shower, it will keep you dry. Rain gear is there to protect you from the rain and wind. The waterproofness of rain gear is measured in water column, which you can read about the different values in the overview below.
- From 0 mm: The rain gear is water-repellent, but not waterproof.
- From 1,000 mm: The rain gear repels water, but is not resistant to pressure. For example, if you sit on a wet chair, the rain gear will eventually start leaking.
- From 2,000 mm: The rain gear remains waterproof even during longer rain showers, but will still leak under pressure.
- From 5,000 mm: The rain gear is resistant to long and intense weather, even under high pressure the clothing remains waterproof. With very prolonged high pressure, the product may eventually start leaking.
- From 15,000 mm: The rain gear is resistant to extremely heavy rain showers and even underwater the clothing keeps you dry.
Make sure the rain gear you bring is breathable and provides good ventilation. This ensures that you don't get very hot quickly and when you do, perspiration is transported to the outside air. In short, the waterproof layer may allow moisture from the inside to pass through to the outside, but not the other way around.
Various types of rain gear
You certainly hope not, but the chance of rain during a walk is present. Always make sure that you can adjust your clothing to the weather while walking, such as rain gear in case of bad weather forecast. Rain gear can consist of a rain suit, a rain jacket and/or rain pants. A rain suit consists of a rain jacket and rain pants. These are also available separately for both women and men, allowing you to put together your own rain suit. Don't want wet feet either? Then also take a look at the range of rain boots, killing two birds with one stone.
Tip
To enjoy your rain gear for as long as possible, it is wise to let the rain gear dry well after use before storing it away.
