Which Skates to Choose?

The most important part of any skating outfit is, of course, the skates. But how do you know which skates are right for you? Are you an advanced skater? If so, you’ll probably choose noren skates, which are designed for long strides. If you’re looking for skates that are also suitable for less experienced skaters, hockey skates or figure skates are ideal options. These skates have shorter blades, making them highly maneuverable. If you’re a complete beginner on the ice, you might prefer a safer choice: gliders. Gliders attach under regular shoes, allowing you to stand directly on the blades with more stability.

Why Choose Special Skating Clothing?

When skating, it’s important to have freedom of movement, so skating clothing should be very stretchy. Many skaters follow the three-layer system, making it easy to adjust if you get too warm or too cold. Much skating apparel is made from lycra, a very flexible material. However, if you tend to get cold easily, you may want to opt for thermal skating clothing.

Why Skating Accessories?

Since skating always takes place in a cold environment, it’s a good idea to wear gloves, a hat, and perhaps a scarf or neck warmer for extra warmth.
