Referees clothing for men
The Right Outfit
As a referee, it is important to wear a distinctive outfit. It should be immediately clear that you are the referee. Referee clothing typically comes in different colors than the clothing worn by football players. While this used to mostly mean black attire, nowadays, there are also brightly colored options available. Referee clothing consists of a shirt, pants, and socks.
Useful Details
Referee clothing comes with practical features, such as various chest and pocket compartments. These pockets are useful for storing the essential accessories you need as a referee. The chest pockets are typically secured with Velcro, preventing items from falling out while you are running and following the game.
Referee shirts come with both long and short sleeves. It’s important that your upper body stays at the right temperature. When your upper body is warm, it’s easier for the rest of your body to stay warm too. Choose the sleeve length that suits the weather and where you feel most comfortable.
What Material?
Referee clothing is made from materials that have moisture-wicking properties. If you start sweating, these materials ensure that perspiration is pulled away from your skin, keeping your body dry and comfortable. If the clothing does not have this feature, it will become wet and heavy from sweat, making you feel cold. This increases the risk of injuries.
Opt for an outfit made from synthetic materials, such as polyester. Polyester is lightweight, dries quickly, is shape- and color-fast, and wicks moisture effectively.
Tip
Wash the referee clothing according to the care instructions to ensure that the key properties are maintained. The instructions can be found on the label inside the clothing. Do not use fabric softener and avoid putting the clothing in the dryer.
