Prevent athlete's foot

Fungi are common in public shower rooms. Athlete's foot is annoying, it itches and can even cause pain. Can athlete's foot be harmful?

Fungi can be harmful for people with diabetes. Due to the diabetes, the fungus can penetrate deeper into the skin and cause infections. For people without diabetes, a fungal infection is mainly annoying. The fungus causes itching and pain, and your feet look less clean and fresh.

Slippers come in various models. The biggest difference mainly lies in the type of strap that goes over your feet. Shower slippers have a wide strap over the top of the foot under which you slide your toes. Flip flops are slippers with a small 'post' between the big toe and second toe.

Tip

Besides wearing slippers, it's also important to dry your feet properly after showering, especially between your toes. Fungi can also develop if you put damp feet into your shoes.
