Shin guards for women
Shin guards are essential during every match or training session. Check out the women's range from Nike and Adidas.
Mandatory
In 1999, the KNVB included in its regulations that it is mandatory to wear shin guards during football matches. Since that decision, the KNVB has seen the number of injuries drop by as much as 25%! This injury toll doesn't just consist of severe bone fractures, but also bruises and wounds to the lower leg. By wearing shin guards, you're a lot less vulnerable and the risk of a lower leg injury is much smaller!
Fit
As soon as you put on a shin guard, you'll quickly feel whether it fits well or not. Does the shin guard pinch? Then it's too small and can hinder your movements. Does the shin guard shift back and forth? Then it's too big and doesn't offer the protection you need! In addition, the correct size shin guard covers about three-quarters of the shin and the top of the shin guard sits no more than five centimetres below the knee.
Tips
Do you prefer to wear shin guards without an ankle sock? Then so-called stay guards can keep the shin guards from sliding down!
Let your shin guards dry properly after use, for example by hanging them on the washing line. This way you prevent bacteria from developing!
Although shin guards are only mandatory during a football match, it's also recommended to wear shin guards during football training!
