Outfit

When you go volleyballing, it is important that you wear the right clothing, shoes, and protection. Special shoes absorb the shocks of moving and jumping, and the right clothing ensures that perspiration is quickly removed and you stay dry and cool. When it comes to protection, you can think of knee pads and elbow pads. As the names suggest, these aids protect your knees and elbows.

Volleyball Shoes

One of the most important parts of the volleyball outfit are the shoes. Volleyball requires a lot from the joints in the feet. The many sudden movements and high jumps require a lot of strength and cause hard impacts. To prevent injuries, it is therefore very important to wear special volleyball shoes with good shock absorption. The more you jump and the harder the ground is, the more is demanded from the ankles, knees, and hips. A good shoe absorbs these shocks and relieves the joints, reducing the risk of injuries.

Volleyball shoes provide support and stability. The heel counter must be high enough to encompass the entire heel, so that it can provide optimal support. The heel counter must provide enough resistance, it should be difficult to press in. The heel should not slide in the shoe.

Consider your foot roll. Foot roll means that your feet make a smooth, rolling movement. Any deviation in this causes extra stress on the feet, ankles, knees, or lower legs. Special volleyball shoes can compensate for the deviations and extra stress.

For a good foot roll, it is important that there is half to one centimeter of space between the tips of your toes and the shoe edge. In addition, shoes with a lace closure, laced crosswise, are easier to adjust to your feet compared to, for example, a Velcro closure. Finally, it is important that the shoes provide sufficient grip so that you do not slip.

Volleyball Clothing

Volleyball clothing should fit comfortably and provide freedom of movement. It is important that the clothing is flexible and lightweight. In addition, it must be able to withstand wear and tear, requiring sturdy material. Volleyball clothing is made of breathable material that wicks moisture well. When you play volleyball, you are active, and when you stop moving, you cool down quickly. If the clothing is wet from sweat, you cool down quickly and get chills. You will then no longer warm up. It is therefore important that the clothing is made of material that dries quickly.

Knee Pads

Knee pads protect the knees against the rough floor of the sports hall. During a volleyball match or training, volleyball players make many sudden movements and to prevent balls from hitting the ground, they dive and slide. The floor of a sports hall is rough, and if you fall, it can cause nasty wounds and injuries. The knee pads ensure that the impact is absorbed and you can slide over the floor.

The knee pads should stay in place but should not be too tight. Make sure to wash the knee pads thoroughly after use and wash them regularly. Dirty knee pads can cause infections on wounds on or around your knee.

Balls

There are two sizes of volleyballs. Size 3 can be used by young volleyball players, and size 5 is suitable for adults and advanced players. Check the product specifications to see the size of the respective ball.

Tips

Wear socks during fitting that you also wear during volleyball. Fit the shoes at the end of the day, as your feet are slightly swollen due to retaining moisture. Your feet are also slightly swollen during exercise. Always try on your volleyball shoes standing up and on both feet.
