When to Drink?

To ensure that the body can continue to function well, it’s important to drink enough throughout the day. The body’s fluid balance helps to remove waste products (via sweat and urine) and maintain body temperature. By the time you feel thirsty, it’s already too late. During intense physical activity, the brain may fail to signal thirst, which means you won’t feel thirsty, and this can be dangerous, leading to dehydration. A good way to check if you're drinking enough is by the color of your urine. If it’s dark, you’re not drinking enough.

Why Drink?

During exercise, the body produces heat, and to prevent overheating, the body sweats. It's crucial to keep drinking enough so that the body can continue to sweat and avoid overheating. Metabolism also speeds up during exercise, releasing more waste products, which are then expelled through urine and sweat, both of which require hydration. If your urine is dark, it’s a sign that you’ve not been drinking enough.

Water Bottles

Water bottles are convenient for carrying water to a training session or football match. The spout on the bottle allows you to drink without your mouth touching the bottle, preventing bacteria from entering the water. This means multiple people can drink from one bottle without contamination.

To make carrying water bottles easier, there are bottle carriers—racks that can hold up to 12 large bottles.

Tip

To prevent mold from developing in the bottles, it's important to rinse them right after use, especially if sports drinks were inside. If the bottle starts to get dirty inside, you can break a dishwasher tablet in half, add it with some water to the bottle, and let it soak for a few hours. This will clean the bottle, making it look like new.
