Thermal sets
Thermal wear prevents you from getting cold and keeps your body dry. On a proper hike, thermal wear is therefore highly suited to wear under your hiking clothing. Thermal wear comes in the form of a shirt, trousers, but also as a complete set.
Why choose a thermal set for hiking?
Going on a proper hike? We recommend choosing your clothing based on the 3-layer system. Underwear is the layer you wear directly on your skin. Over that you can wear thermal wear. Thermal wear counts as the first layer. This layer regulates your body temperature and wicks away perspiration. Regulation of your body temperature happens through a layer of air that forms between your skin and the thermal wear. The bigger this layer of air, the more warmth the thermal set retains. Wear the thermal set a bit looser around your body and the layer of air is bigger, giving the set more warmth. If the clothing fits more snugly to the body, the focus shifts more towards wicking away perspiration. A thermal set consists of a thermal shirt and thermal trousers.
The different types of thermal sets
At Plutosport.nl there are both summer and winter thermal sets for women, men and children, meaning thermal wear can be worn all year round. Summer thermal sets are thinner and have as their main function keeping your body cool and dry, by quickly wicking away perspiration. Winter thermal sets provide warmth instead, since they're a bit thicker. A thermal set is usually made from polyester or merino wool. Both fabrics have as their most important properties that they wick away perspiration well and dry quickly. Polyester holds its shape well. Merino wool doesn't itch and stays fresh-smelling.
Tip
To preserve the quality and important properties of the thermal set, it's important to wash the set according to the washing instructions. You can find these on the label on the inside of the thermal set.
