Cycling

Moving is of course better than sitting still! And what could be better than exploring the surroundings on your racing bike?

Why cycling?

Cycling is a very popular sport and that's not surprising at all! Cycling offers many benefits that other sports do not offer... For example, cycling is much less taxing on your muscles than running, and during a cycling tour you have less chance of injury than in a contact sport like football. In addition, you can reach high speeds while cycling, allowing you to cover long distances in no time. Cycling is also good for your health, you can build a good basic fitness level and if all goes well, you can gradually increase your cycling endurance! And last but not least, cycling is known for taking breaks while enjoying a nice cup of coffee and a big piece of apple pie!

Cycling in the rain

Is it above 10°C and raining? Then there is no reason to stay at home! However, it is advisable to wear water-repellent clothing, such as a rain jacket, shoe covers, and possibly arm and/or leg warmers. Do you get cold hands quickly? Then also remember to protect your hands with water-repellent gloves! Is it below 10°C and raining? Then it's a good idea to come up with an alternative plan for your cycling tour.

Mountain biking

Do you like a challenge? And do you enjoy being in nature? Then chances are that mountain biking is really something for you!

Is mountain biking healthy?

Mountain biking has many benefits, one of which is that it is good for your health! Mountain biking is not only a form of strength training, but it also trains your endurance, technique, and coordination. Mountain biking is a good way to become stronger in many aspects! Additionally, being in the middle of nature allows you to clear your mind and mentally recharge.

Is wearing a helmet mandatory for mountain biking?

Although it is not mandatory to wear a mountain bike helmet, it is highly recommended! Every year, too many mountain bikers end up in the hospital with head injuries... While mountain biking, you ride on sandy paths, and due to the many climbs and descents, you can reach high speeds, making mountain biking not without risks! Do you quickly get warm while mountain biking? No problem! Many helmets are equipped with ventilation holes, allowing you to keep your head cool!

Recreational cycling

Cycling is an accessible activity and the risk of injuries is very low, which allows many people to engage in this sport! Additionally, you can determine the pace at which you cycle and whether you go cycling alone or with others.

Is cycling healthy?

Cycling is healthy! By regularly taking the bike, you can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, and cycling is also good for muscle building in your entire body. You might think that you only use the muscles in your legs, but that's not true! Of course, you also use the muscles in your arms to steer, and to stay balanced, you use your abdominal and back muscles! Additionally, while cycling, you are actively engaged in the outdoors, allowing you to escape the stress of everyday life and relax. During a cycling tour, the body will produce endorphins and serotonin, making you a happier person and potentially experiencing less stress.

Tip

Not sure what clothing to wear or having doubts? Dress in layers! If you get too warm, you can take off a layer. If you get cold later on, you can of course put on another layer!
