Men's running clothes
What Do You Need?
By dressing appropriately, you can run comfortably and enjoyably in every season. Running clothing should be functional. The materials used should help maintain your body temperature, wick away sweat, and protect you from rain and wind. We’re happy to explain what a running outfit can consist of.
Upper Body
The 3-layer system is designed to help you dress practically. The first layer is a thermal shirt, worn directly against your skin. The thermal shirt should fit snugly and its primary function is to regulate body temperature. The second layer provides insulation and further wicks sweat away from the first layer. A running shirt, either short- or long-sleeved, is worn as the middle layer. The third layer protects against rain and wind. A running jacket offers this protection, and its material should be breathable, windproof, and water-repellent.
Lower Body
Running pants come in different styles: short, long, or ¾-length. They also vary in fit. There are tight-fitting running pants, known as running tights or sports leggings, and looser running pants. Since running tights are form-fitting, they offer complete freedom of movement, making running more comfortable. If you prefer looser running pants, make sure they are made from breathable, lightweight fabric. During summer, you may opt for running shorts. You can also wear thermal pants under your running pants for added warmth.
Your Feet
You may not immediately think about it, but good socks are crucial for running. They help reduce the risk of blisters and injuries. Running socks are often seamless, provide support, and efficiently wick away sweat.
Thermal Clothing
Thermal clothing can be worn over your sports underwear. This clothing regulates your body temperature and wicks away sweat. Thermal clothing can be worn year-round. In winter, it provides warmth, while in summer, it has a cooling effect. Summer thermal clothing should fit snugly, while winter thermal clothing can be worn a little looser. Thermal clothing comes in the form of shirts and pants.
Compression Clothing
Compression clothing is often confused with thermal clothing. While thermal clothing helps maintain the right body temperature, compression clothing supports your muscles. Compression clothing is made from thin fabric and applies pressure to your muscles, reducing vibration and saving energy. This clothing also improves blood circulation, helping reduce muscle fatigue and allowing you to run longer. Compression clothing is available as shirts, pants, and socks/stockings.
Sports Underwear
The very first layer you put on is sports underwear, which for men is a pair of boxers. This layer is worn close to the skin, reducing friction and preventing irritation. Sports underwear stays in place and efficiently wicks away sweat, keeping your body dry.
