Which Skates to Buy?

The best skates for you depend on your experience level. Are you an advanced skater? Then choose noren skates. Noren have long blades, allowing for long strides and making it easier to skate over long distances. If you’re more of an intermediate skater, hockey skates are a better choice. These skates have shorter blades, giving you much more flexibility than noren! It’s no wonder that you often see more hockey skates out on the ice when it freezes!

What to Wear While Skating?

One requirement for skating is that there has to be ice—and where there’s ice, it’s cold! Protecting yourself against low temperatures is essential. Following the three-layer system is a good idea, and it’s also important to choose the right accessories. A pair of gloves and a hat, for instance, are absolute must-haves! Do you get cold easily? Then a neck warmer is also a great addition.

Tip

Finished skating? Be sure to dry off the blades thoroughly to prevent rust and ensure that you’ll be able to enjoy the ice again next time!
