Soft ground football boots for kids
Conditions for Screw-In Studs
It is not forbidden to play football with shoes that have screw-in studs, but there are some conditions attached. As long as the studs are well-maintained, they can be used on any football field. The studs must not have sharp edges.
The advantage of screw-in studs is that they provide excellent grip due to the long, strong studs. These football shoes are especially good for use on wet, slippery fields. They are also very suitable for goalkeepers. You can recognize football shoes with screw-in studs by the letters SG behind the product name. SG stands for Soft Ground.
You can also remove the studs and replace them with shorter studs. This makes the shoes suitable for use on dry football fields. So, your child can use these shoes on multiple surfaces. Additionally, these shoes last longer because worn studs can be easily replaced.
Disadvantages
Football shoes with screw-in studs also have a few drawbacks. The shoes are less stable on harder surfaces because they only have 6 to 8 relatively long studs. These shoes also require a lot of maintenance. Therefore, they are not suitable if the shoes will not be looked after after the training or match.
Maintenance
Maintenance is very important for these football shoes. The shoes need to be kept clean, and this applies not only to the upper part but also to the underside. Regularly unscrew the studs and lubricate the screw threads with acid-free petroleum jelly. Then screw the studs back in, but not too tight. Tight is tight.
Tip
Check the accompanying size chart to see which size your child needs. This can vary by brand.
