Weight

For kids, a ball that's too heavy can quickly lead to injury, so it's really important to choose a ball that suits the child's age group. Children up to 10 years old play with a ball weighing around 290 grams, children aged 10 to 15 play with a ball between 320 and 270 grams, and boys and girls aged 15 to 18 play with a ball between 370 and 450 grams.

Material

The outer layer of a ball is usually made from polyurethane or PVC. Official competition matches (almost) always use a polyurethane ball, as it's extremely hard-wearing and holds up in all weather conditions. A PVC ball doesn't cope as well with colder temperatures, and may lose its shape slightly and wear out a bit faster.

Tips

There are also special balls made for playing football on the beach, ideal for holidays or a day at the seaside!

The product description usually states the specific features and weight of the ball. Read it carefully so there are no surprises!
