What's in a snorklingset?

A snorklingset consists of a diving mask and a snorkel; by buying a snorklingset you're ready in one go to get into the water! Full face masks also fall under snorklingsets, because a full face mask is a diving mask and snorkel in one. The full face mask has a large lens and covers the eyes, the nose and the mouth. On top of the full face mask is a snorkel, so you can simply keep breathing while snorkling with a full face mask. With a full face mask you can just breathe through your nose and your field of view is very wide, a win-win situation!

If you use a regular diving mask, you still need a separate snorkel. The diving mask keeps water away from the eyes and the nose, so you can enjoy undisturbed all the beautiful animals that live underwater. The snorkel is a small tube with a mouthpiece; the snorkel lets you breathe underwater too. Breathing through a snorkel is a little different from what you're used to, because it takes a bit longer for the air to reach your lungs through the snorkel. While breathing through the snorkel it's therefore important to breathe in and out calmly and deeply. It's very important that both the diving mask and the snorkel are the right size, because only then can you fully enjoy snorkling!

Tips

It's wise to practice breathing through a snorkel on dry land in advance, so you avoid any surprises later on!
