How does snorkling work?

Many people don't know how to breathe while snorkling and therefore don't do it, but that's of course a real shame! Because while snorkling you come across the most beautiful surprises. Nowadays there are more and more accessories that make snorkling really easy!

Diving mask

Diving masks and snorkels are available in various types and sizes. Many diving masks cover only the eyes and the nose, but nowadays there are also diving masks that cover the entire face. These large masks are also called full face masks and let you breathe through your nose instead of only through your mouth. With a full face mask you have a very wide field of view, so you can see extra much!

Snorkel

Unless you go into the water with a full face mask, a good snorkel is indispensable while snorkling! A snorkel consists of a tube and a mouthpiece and lets you keep breathing normally underwater. It's important that the snorkel fits well so that no water can get into the snorkel.

Flippers

With flippers you can swim quite a bit faster, calmer and more easily, which helps prevent cramp! Also check out our snorklingsets for kids.

Snorkling tips

Practice breathing through a snorkel on dry land first, so you enter the water trained and confident!

Rinse all snorkling gear well in lukewarm fresh water after snorkling; this way you can wash off all the salt and enjoy your snorkling equipment for extra long!
