How does snorkeling work?

Many people do not know how to breathe while snorkeling and therefore do not do it, but that is of course a real shame! While snorkeling, you come across the most beautiful surprises. Nowadays, there are more and more accessories that make snorkeling very easy!

Diving Mask

Diving masks and snorkels are available in various types and sizes. Many diving masks only cover the eyes and nose, but nowadays there are also diving masks that cover the entire face. These large masks are also called full face masks and allow you to breathe through your nose instead of just through your mouth. With a full face mask, you have a very wide field of view, allowing you to see a lot more!

Snorkel

Unless you enter the water with a full face mask, a good snorkel is indispensable during snorkeling! A snorkel consists of a tube and a mouthpiece and ensures that you can continue to breathe underwater. It is important that the snorkel fits well, so that no water can get into the snorkel. Many people lie on their stomachs while snorkeling and make sure that the end of the snorkel still comes out above the water, this way you can breathe easily and you don't have to be afraid of getting water in your mouth.

Fins

With fins on, you can swim much faster, calmer, and easier, thus preventing cramps! In addition, they also ensure that your feet are well protected against, for example, sea urchins. With fins on, you can move through the water very smoothly and freely.

Snorkeling Tips

Practice breathing through a snorkel first on dry land, so you go into the water practiced and confident!

Rinse all snorkeling gear well after snorkeling in lukewarm and fresh water, this way you can wash off all the salt (or other substances) and you can enjoy the snorkeling equipment for a longer time!
