Surface

To determine which ball you need, first identify the surface on which the ball will be used. Will it be used for futsal, primarily on artificial turf, or mostly on natural grass? Another option could be that the ball will be used for street football.

In competitive play, a distinction is made between futsal and field football. For field football, you can play on artificial turf or natural grass, and special balls are designed for both types. For example, artificial turf requires a durable ball, whereas durability is less of an issue for natural grass.

Balls specifically designed for leisure use include beach soccer balls. These balls are water-resistant and are ideal for use in and around water. They also feature a soft outer layer to minimize discomfort when kicking with bare feet.

Training Ball or Match Ball?

The difference between match balls and training balls lies in the material used. A match ball should perform well in sunlight and maintain its functionality even during heavy rain! Match balls are always made from polyurethane, a durable and wear-resistant material. Training balls are often made from PVC, which can be less resistant to rain and cold.

Size and Weight

Women’s teams use size 5 balls, which have a circumference of approximately 70 cm. Women's balls often weigh slightly less than men's balls. The rules for competitive and cup matches state that the ball must weigh between 370 and 450 grams.
