The outdoor outfit

By wearing multiple layers during a hike, you can prepare for all weather conditions. Wear a thermal shirt as the first layer (and thermal pants in extreme cold), an insulating garment like a pullover or fleece as the second layer. Make sure the third layer is wind- and water-resistant. If it's very warm, you can remove one of the layers. If it's very cold, you can wear an extra pullover or fleece underneath.

In the summer, one or two layers are usually sufficient, depending on the temperature. In the summer, it's best to choose breathable clothing so that the body can release heat effectively. Additionally, wearing a cap on warmer days can help keep your face cool.

Outdoor shoes

Special hiking shoes make hiking much more enjoyable, especially when dealing with uneven terrain or being away from home for a long time. Hiking shoes protect your feet from injuries and blisters, and also provide the cushioning and traction you need. If you're going on a hike with significant changes in elevation, opt for high hiking shoes. These provide extra ankle support, reducing the risk of sprains. If you have weak ankles, it's advisable to wear high shoes regardless.

Low shoes are more comfortable to wear in the summer and for walks on flat paths. If you're going on a city trip or walking on asphalt roads, these shoes also provide sufficient support.

Tip

Are you new to hiking? Start slowly and gradually increase your hiking pace. This also applies to the distance.
