What are the best hockey shoes for women?

First of all, the choice of hockey shoes depends on whether you play indoor or on (artificial) grass. Outdoor hockey shoes often have short studs on the sole, giving you more grip on the pitch while still allowing quick, short movements. Indoor hockey shoes, on the other hand, have a stiffer sole that stops you slipping on the smooth indoor floor, with a non-marking sole that leaves no marks. The indoor floor is also much harder than (artificial) grass, so indoor hockey shoes need to offer good cushioning. For outdoor hockey shoes, it's nice if they're waterproof, so your feet stay dry during a rainy match or training session.

Which hockey shoes suit me?

Which hockey shoes are right for you depends on whether you play indoor or outdoor hockey, and of course on your own preference. The hockey shoes need to fit comfortably, so you can fully focus on the game or training. When trying them on, your feet shouldn't slide but should have enough room: your toes should still be able to move a little, with about 0.5 to 1cm of space left at the front. Do you immediately feel pressure points? Then this isn't the right model for you.

Tip

Check the size chart of the relevant hockey shoe to work out which size you need.
