Cardio, Strength or Group Classes
In the gym today, you can do various types of workouts. While cardio and strength training were once the most common types of exercise in gyms, many gyms now also offer group classes. Examples of group classes include Zumba, Step, and Aerobics. In the gym, you need good fitness shoes. Not every shoe is suitable for every type of workout. If you're doing a lot of movement and jumping, you'll need different shoes than when you're doing strength training.
Group Classes with Music
In music-based classes, you make many lateral and twisting movements. Your shoes must be able to accommodate these movements and not restrict your feet. For these classes, you need fitness shoes with diagonal grooves in the soles. A profile with long straight lines can cause your feet to remain fixed, leading to potential injuries.
Cardio
If you're primarily working on your fitness with cardio, you need lightweight fitness shoes that breathe well and are effective at wicking away moisture. On the treadmill, you’ll need shoes with good cushioning. When running, a lot of pressure is exerted on your body. By wearing running shoes, you reduce this pressure and lower the risk of injuries.
Strength Training
Exercises on machines don’t require special shoes because your feet and joints aren’t heavily stressed. However, if you’re working with heavy weights like dumbbells and barbells, you’ll need fitness shoes with good cushioning and grip. You shouldn’t slip during these exercises. Additionally, heavy weights place significant pressure on your feet, ankles, and knees. Wearing good cushioned shoes helps reduce this pressure.
Jumping
A workout that involves a lot of jumping is called plyometrics. Sometimes, additional weights are used. This workout is great for fat burning but places a lot of strain on your joints, muscles, and tendons. During each jump, about five times your body weight impacts your body. Make sure to wear fitness shoes with good cushioning and grip during this workout. Without proper shoes, the risk of injury increases.
Tip
Make sure you wear the correct size fitness shoes. Your feet expand when it’s warm. Also, your feet tend to swell as the day goes on. Therefore, try on your fitness shoes in the afternoon. Shoes that are too big aren’t good either because your feet will slide inside them, leading to blisters.
