Sports bra
Function of a Sports Bra
During fitness, the muscles in your body absorb the movements. Your breasts do not have muscles, but consist of tissue. Since your breasts lack muscles, the movements are not absorbed, which can lead to sagging breasts over time. Once sagging breasts occur, they don’t get better. Additionally, the pressure on your neck and back increases, potentially causing overloading. To prevent this, wear a sports bra while exercising!
The Best Sports Bra for You
The primary function of a sports bra is to support your breasts. It also wicks away moisture and prevents chafing. The right size plays a significant role here, because wearing the wrong size will negate these crucial benefits. A sports bra fits tighter than a regular bra, but you should not feel any pressure when breathing. If you do, the bra is too tight. There are a few other things you should consider when purchasing a new sports bra.
Sports bras come with or without cups. A sports bra with cups is suitable for women with larger breasts. Sports bras without cups are suitable for women with small to medium-sized breasts. Most sports bras don’t have underwires but have a reinforced band instead, which serves as a replacement for the underwires.
Sports bras can have wide, narrow, straight, or crossed shoulder straps. Wide straps offer more support, while crossed straps better distribute shoulder pressure. There are also different types of closures. Sports bras may have a front or back closure or no closure at all.
Material
Sports bras are made from materials that wick moisture away, keeping your body dry. The addition of elastane ensures extra comfort.
Fitting
When trying on the bra, there are a few things you can do to check if it fits well. Jump and move around while trying it on to see how it feels during movement. Raise your arms in the air. Does the bra ride up? Then you need a smaller band size. Bras stretch over time, so try the bra on the last hook so you can adjust it tighter as it loosens.
Washing Instructions
To maintain the quality of your sports bra, it is essential to wash it according to the care instructions. The instructions are on the label inside the bra. To prevent sweat from seeping into the bra, we recommend washing it shortly after exercising. Hand wash is best. Use lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Don’t soak the bra for too long in the water and rinse thoroughly. Hang the bra to dry.
Tip
Not every sports bra offers the same level of support. You can find the level of support in the product descriptions.
