What is a neck warmer?

Neck warmers are not only suitable for winter sports, but they also come in handy during the cold Dutch winters. A neck warmer, also known as a snood or buff, is not just for comfort and keeping the wind out, but it also keeps your airways warm, reducing the chances of catching a cold or virus!

Scarf vs. neck warmer

The advantage of a traditional scarf is that you can wrap it around your neck multiple times, providing extra warmth. The benefit of a neck warmer is that most of them can be closed off from the cold air using a drawstring at the top. Additionally, with a neck warmer, you can easily cover your face (partially), providing excellent protection for your face as well!

What material is a neck warmer made of?

A neck warmer can be made from various materials. A fleece neck warmer is soft and keeps your neck warm! If you get too warm, you can easily store it in your jacket pocket. Fleece is made from polyester and is a popular fabric for making neck warmers. Polyester is a warm, durable, and shape-retaining material. Some neck warmers are made from merino wool, which provides similar warmth to fleece. There are also neck warmers made (partially) from acrylic. Acrylic remains looking good for a long time and provides warmth! Unlike wool, acrylic items can be machine-washed.
