Swimsuits
The swimsuit is worn a lot by competitive female swimmers, but you'll also spot it looking stylish on the beach or at the pool. There are various types of swimsuits. We're happy to explain what to look for when buying one.
Swimming
The swimsuit is back! Competitive swimmers wear one, but you'll increasingly see them on the beach and at the pool too. Besides being comfortable to swim in, you'll look stylish too, thanks to fun colours and sleek designs.
When buying, check the back style. It could be a muscleback, where the shoulder straps meet in the middle, giving you plenty of freedom of movement, flexibility and comfort. If the swimsuit doesn't have a muscleback, check whether the straps are adjustable. A swimsuit should fit snugly.
Material and technologies
Many swimsuits are made from polyester, among other materials. Polyester is a durable fabric that dries fast and resists wrinkling.
Some brands use special technologies. Speedo, for example, uses SpeedFit technology, which helps position the body correctly to improve your technique more easily, while offering light bust support. Speedo's Endurance+ also gives a better fit, more durability and a soft, comfortable feel, 100% chlorine-resistant and fast-drying. Aqua Sphere uses Xlance Eco technology, making the swimsuit chlorine-resistant, UV-protective and shape-retaining.
Tip
When trying it on, stretch your arms above your head to check the swimsuit stays in place. Keep in mind a swimsuit loosens up in the water, so don't buy it too big.
