A swim cap protects your hair and reduces resistance while swimming. Reason enough to wear one every time you hit the water!
Function of a swim cap
Swimming in chlorinated water can seriously damage your hair. Swim caps were developed to prevent that. There are comfortable caps that don't sit too tight on the head and protect your hair from (chlorinated) water, mostly used for recreational swimming. There are also caps that, besides protecting your hair, reduce drag so you swim faster. These usually fit tighter.
Material and care
Most swim caps are made from silicone and are very stretchy. They fit snugly, stay put well and last a long time.
Dry the outside of the cap after use, then hang it up inside-out to dry.
Tip
In some countries, wearing a swim cap in the pool is compulsory. Check this before you go on holiday!
