What Running Pants Do I Need?
The most important thing is that the running pants you wear feel comfortable! There’s nothing worse than realizing during a run that your pants are too tight or slipping down, as it takes away your full focus. At Plutosport.nl, we offer a variety of running pants, and we’d be happy to explain the options.
Long Running Pants
A tight running pant is also known as a running tight or running leggings and is often considered very comfortable, offering excellent freedom of movement. The benefit of running leggings is that they fit snugly around your legs, preventing friction and irritation. Especially in the winter, it's recommended to wear long running leggings as they help retain body heat. Long tights are available for both men and women. At Plutosport.nl, you'll find long tights in various colors from popular brands like Nike, Adidas, and Asics. Many running leggings also have small pockets in the waistband, perfect for storing your house key!
Three-Quarter Running Pants
If you find it too warm for long pants but too cold for short running shorts, consider three-quarter running pants. Look for running pants that quickly wick moisture away to keep you dry during your run. Cold is experienced differently by everyone. As a guideline, we recommend wearing three-quarter running tights when the temperature is 15°C or lower. Cold muscles are more prone to injury, and wearing three-quarter pants helps warm the muscles faster and keeps them warm longer.
Short Running Pants
Do you prefer short running pants? Keep in mind that cold muscles are more vulnerable to injury, so a proper warm-up is even more important. Just like the long version, the short running tights offer a lot of support to the muscles. If you prefer a looser fit, that's also possible. Many loose running shorts are also equipped with a tight inner lining, providing the same muscle support as the short running tights. Short running pants are typically black and available for both men and women.
When wearing looser running pants, you may experience chafing in the groin or between your legs. This can be prevented by wearing compression shorts underneath. In addition to preventing chafing, compression shorts provide muscle support, reducing soreness and aiding recovery.
Long Running Pants vs. Short Running Pants
At Plutosport.nl, we offer a wide range of running pants for both men and women. The choice between long running pants or short ones depends on personal preference. Our advice is to always choose long running leggings or pants on winter days to prevent injury. If you get hot quickly and the weather is warm, it's best to opt for short running pants.
What to Look for When Buying Good Running Pants
A good pair of running pants should be breathable, wick away sweat easily, and keep you warm during your run. Nike’s Dri-Fit Tech is known for providing optimal comfort in their running pants. Asics also incorporates a technology called Motion Dry, which ensures the body stays dry.
Many running pants and tights feature reflective elements, allowing you to run safely at night and stay visible to those around you. It’s also wise to wear a reflective running vest and LED lights during your run to maximize visibility and reduce the risk of being overlooked.
Tip
It’s important to wash running clothes as soon as possible after running. Sweat contains minerals that can affect the elasticity of the clothing. Don’t wait too long to wash your gear, as this can cause it to wear out faster. Note: Running clothes should not be washed with fabric softener or put in the dryer.
