How does padel work?

Padel is a racket sport that is a combination of tennis and squash. You play padel with four people, in teams of two. The rectangular court is surrounded by walls that can also be used during the game. Just like in tennis, the ball can only touch the ground once and in addition, the ball must bounce once before hitting one of the walls. To be a successful padel player, you need to have patience, be able to act quickly, have tactical insight, and be able to use the walls to surprise your opponents.

What do you need for padel?

Of course, a padel racket is essential when you're going to play a game of padel! The padel racket is thicker and smaller than a tennis racket or squash racket, and it has holes instead of strings. The padel racket is available in three different shapes. Generally, rackets with a round blade are used by beginner players, medium to advanced players choose a racket with a teardrop-shaped blade, and rackets with a diamond-shaped blade are only suitable for true padel experts. In addition to the special padel racket, special padel balls are also essential. Although the balls may look similar to tennis balls at first glance, padel balls are slightly smaller and have slightly less pressure. This means you can give the padel balls a little less speed and they bounce a little less explosively than tennis balls.

Which padel racket should I buy?

The racket used in padel is smaller compared to a squash or tennis racket. The shape of the blade can also vary, so it's good to know which blades you can choose from. There are padel rackets with a round blade, teardrop-shaped blade, and diamond-shaped blade. If you're a beginner looking for a padel racket, you're best off choosing one with a round blade. If you already have more technique, you can use a teardrop-shaped blade to put more power and play the ball controlled. If you've been playing padel for a while, a diamond-shaped blade is perfect for you. In our range, you'll find padel rackets for beginners and advanced players, and of course, you can always choose your favorite brand. From Babolat padel rackets to Dunlop padel rackets: find the racket that suits you!

Why wear padel shoes?

It's advisable to wear special padel shoes while playing padel and not opt for tennis shoes, as there is a real difference! The choice of padel shoes depends on the surface you're playing on, which is usually artificial grass, concrete, or gravel. In addition, padel shoes must provide enough stability so that your foot cannot tilt inward or outward, and there must be enough cushioning in the shoe. Padel is an active sport where the soles of the shoes must absorb shocks well.
