Fleece sweaters for hiking

While hiking it's nice to be able to adapt your outfit to the weather conditions. A widely used system is the three-layer system: you start with a first layer in the form of thermal wear, the second layer is a fleece sweater, and the third layer is a windproof jacket. The fleece sweater wicks away sweat and keeps the body warm.

Why wear a fleece sweater?

While hiking it's nice to be able to adapt your outfit to the weather conditions with the three-layer system. A fleece sweater from Regatta or The North Face is the second layer: it wicks away sweat and keeps the body warm by holding onto an insulating layer of air.

Fleece sweater versus fleece vest

A fleece sweater has, unlike a fleece vest, sleeves, giving it a bit more warmth. Wear the sweater under an outdoor jacket as the third, windproof layer.
