Snowboots
What are Snow Boots?
Snow boots, also known as winter boots, are sturdy and comfortable footwear designed to keep your feet dry in all conditions. Wearing snow boots ensures that your feet stay warm, which helps maintain your body temperature. Most winter boots feature a thick tread, providing excellent grip on snow or slippery, uneven paths.
The Differences
Snow boots can vary in material, height, and color. Leather winter boots are very popular because, in addition to being waterproof, they are also breathable. A downside of leather is that it requires good maintenance. Snow boots made from other materials may be less breathable but are maintenance-free.
Another characteristic where snow boots differ is height. Low models are comfortable to wear and easy to put on. However, higher models are more difficult to get into, and the tall shaft reduces flexibility in movement. These are warmer than the lower models and less likely to let snow in.
Tip
Make sure you wear the correct size. If the fit is off, your feet won’t stay warm, as the boot’s heating function won’t work properly. Additionally, it’s important that the shaft fits well. An open shaft leads to significant heat loss. Be sure to check the accompanying size chart before purchasing to ensure you get the right size.
To keep your snow boots in good condition for as long as possible, always dry them after use. At the end of the winter season, you can spray your boots with a dirt- and water-repellent spray to keep them waterproof for the future.
