When can you wear slippers?

Slippers are suitable to wear on warm days or in rooms that are warm. Slippers are also often worn in the shower, for example at the campsite or in the changing room after sport, so your feet don't have to touch the dirty floor. The slipper is airy on the foot, which stops it from sweating.

What types of slippers are there?

Slippers come in many types and sizes, yet there are also similarities between the different types. Slippers protect your feet from dirt on the ground, reduce the risk of athlete's foot (for example in swimming pools or public showers), and dry again in no time once they've gotten wet.

Thongs

thongs are the most versatile slippers you can imagine. You can wear them under a dress, but they also look great with your bikini or a pair of shorts. Whether you're picnicking in the park, spending a day at the beach or dining out on the boulevard, thongs always work.

Shower slippers

Not everyone enjoys wearing thongs, but luckily really nice shower slippers are also made nowadays. While shower slippers used to only be used for showering after a sports match, nowadays you see them more and more at the beach and by the pool. Shower slippers are comfortable, nice and airy, and thanks to the rubber sole they also offer plenty of grip.

Slip-ons

As the name suggests, you slip into slip-ons easily. They often have a pre-shaped footbed, which makes them very comfortable. The most popular slip-ons are perhaps the Birkenstock slippers, known for their sturdiness and rugged look.

What should a good slipper offer?

When you're buying slippers, you naturally want them to be good for your feet. The slipper needs to offer enough support and cushioning and the fit needs to be perfect. A sturdy sole often means enough cushioning, and the footbed needs to fit nicely, which you can see when the heel sinks a little into a cupped shape.

The best slippers

At PlutoSport you'll find various types of slippers that everyone can wear, no matter how old or young you are. Popular brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma have plenty of slippers in their range. We also have slippers with a shaped footbed, offering extra support and perfect for walking in all day long. Well-known brands offering this type of slipper are Crocs and Birkenstock. Birkenstock also has water-resistant slippers, recognisable by the material EVA, which is soft, flexible and strong.

Tip

Many slippers don't support the feet optimally, which can cause annoying aches and injuries over time. It's therefore wise to alternate wearing slippers with good shoes.
