In spring or autumn too, it's occasionally nice to be able to put on a jacket without immediately getting too warm. Choose the Right Transitional Jacket
In the Netherlands, where the weather is famously unpredictable, having a transitional jacket in your wardrobe is a must. Transitional jackets are much lighter than true winter coats but still offer protection against chilly winds.
Features
Think ahead about the purpose of the jacket. If you plan to wear it primarily in windy or rainy conditions, you'll want a jacket made from water- and wind-resistant materials. On the other hand, you might prefer a cotton jacket, cotton is a breathable material but isn't always 100% wind- or waterproof. Be sure to read the product description to learn about the specific features of the jacket.
Jackets also differ in the number of pockets and their closures. Check in advance how many pockets the jacket has and whether they can be secured. Some pockets are simple open pockets, while others can be closed with a zipper or a press button. Pay attention to the closure of the jacket itself as well. Keep in mind that a jacket with buttons offers less protection against rain and wind than one with a zipper. Additionally, not all transitional jackets come with a hood, which is essential if you're looking for a waterproof option.
