What is a Neckwarmer?

A neckwarmer is a type of scarf that you can pull over your head like a collar to keep your neck warm. That's why it's sometimes also called a 'gaiter'. Many neckwarmers are very flexible, so they fit almost everyone. Many neckwarmers also feature a drawstring, which lets you adjust the fit exactly, so no cold air reaches your neck. The neckwarmer is therefore not only great to take on winter sports, but also comes in handy on colder days at home.

Why a Neckwarmer?

The biggest advantage of a neckwarmer is that it stops cold air from reaching your neck, and therefore your jacket. With a neckwarmer you not only keep your neck warm, but you also help make sure the rest of your body doesn't get cold. When you're cold, you're more susceptible to infections, so an added benefit is that you're less likely to catch a cold or the flu. Compared to a regular scarf, the neckwarmer also offers several advantages: you can pull it up nice and high, so your nose and mouth stay warm too. It's also often flexible and lightweight, so you can wear it while still closing your jacket all the way.

Tips

Got a bit too warm? No problem, the neckwarmer easily fits in your jacket pocket. Because many neckwarmers have a drawstring, you can also use the neckwarmer as a hat. All you need to do is pull the drawstring all the way, which fully closes one side of the neckwarmer.
