The biggest difference between hockey skates and figure skates compared to Nords is the type of blade. In contrast, hockey and figure skates make it more challenging to build and maintain speed. However, these skates offer much greater flexibility, allowing for quick turns, spins, and the ability to skate backward easily.

Figure Skates

For figure skating, it is also essential to move gracefully on the ice! The blades of figure skates are characterized by their toe picks at the front, which provide support for performing spins and jumps. The boots of figure skates are often high, providing ample ankle stability. Women generally opt for white figure skates, while men typically choose black.

Tip

Purchase both hockey skates and figure skates in your regular shoe size to avoid slipping inside the boot. Wearing skates that are the wrong size can cause blisters!
