Thermal wear for ice skating
What Does Thermal Clothing Do?
Thermal clothing is designed to regulate your body temperature, ensuring that you don't get too hot or too cold! To achieve this, thermal clothing has two key properties: it is insulating and breathable. The insulating feature helps retain body heat, while the breathable capability allows sufficient fresh air to reach the body.
How Should You Dress for Skating?
Skaters typically use a three-layer system. The first layer consists of thermal clothing, which is worn directly against the skin. The second layer often includes a pullover, although this layer can be omitted if you tend to get warm quickly. For skaters, the third layer is a windproof jacket. When skating at high speeds, you will encounter a lot of wind! This three-layer system allows you to adjust your outfit according to the temperature. If it’s very cold, you might replace the pullover with a thicker sweater. If it's warmer, you can leave the pullover at home!
