Outdoor hockey sticks

Outdoor hockey sticks from The Indian Maharadja, Brabo and Reece are slightly thicker and heavier than indoor sticks, suited to the game on the larger pitch. The right length depends on your height: standing next to the stick, it shouldn't come above your navel. Choose a light stick with more carbon if you play technically and dribble a lot, or a heavier stick if you mainly want to hit hard.

What length hockey stick do I need?

An outdoor hockey stick takes quite a beating on the often stiff artificial turf, so it's not unusual that you need to buy a new stick every now and then. When buying a new outdoor hockey stick it's important to pay close attention to the length of the stick. You can stand a hockey stick on the ground next to you, if it comes up to about the top of your hip bone, you've found the right length! An outdoor hockey stick of the right length prevents you from running too upright or too hunched, which can only benefit your hockey performance.

Which hockey stick suits me?

Which stick you need, you can of course best determine yourself! But it also depends a bit on your position on the hockey pitch and how experienced you are as a hockey player. Do you have years of experience on the hockey pitch? Then there's a good chance you'll choose an outdoor hockey stick with a 25mm curve, allowing you to push easily and give long shots. An outdoor hockey stick with less curve will instead improve your ball control. The different materials that outdoor hockey sticks are made of also offer different advantages! Carbon, for example, makes the stick very stiff, giving you more hitting power. Kevlar is a durable material that's a bit more flexible, so vibrations are well absorbed by the stick. Fibreglass is also a commonly used material in outdoor hockey sticks, this material provides a lot of ball feel and is also very powerful!
