Why wear hockey gloves?

During a hockey training session or match, it is important to protect yourself properly, and one way to do that is by wearing hockey gloves. Hockey gloves cover the entire hand, preventing your hands from scraping against (artificial) grass or the indoor floor, reducing the chance of abrasions. By wearing hockey gloves, you also get better grip when holding the hockey stick. In indoor hockey, it is mandatory to wear closed hockey gloves, as you play closer to the ground and there is a higher chance that a ball will hit your hand. You are required to wear the hockey glove on your left hand, but you can also wear it on both hands for optimal protection!

What should good hockey gloves have?

Good hockey gloves provide protection during play and are not intended to keep your hands warm. Keep this in mind when purchasing hockey gloves! There is also a difference between hockey gloves for indoor and outdoor play. Outdoor hockey gloves are often not fully closed and are thinner, while indoor hockey gloves tend to be thicker.

What size hockey gloves do I need?

Most hockey gloves come in sizes ranging from XXS to L, so both juniors and seniors can find the right pair. To determine what size hockey gloves you need, use a measuring tape to measure around your knuckles to find the circumference of your hand. Then, check the size chart for hockey gloves from brands like Osaka, Reece, and Brabo to see what size you need!
