Different Types of Socks

During a hockey match, wearing shin guards is mandatory. Many hockey players find shin guards uncomfortable and irritating. Wearing the right socks ensures that the shin guards stay in place and prevents chafing, reducing much of the discomfort. Additionally, there are socks with a strap that runs under the foot. These are worn under the shin guards and are specifically designed to prevent skin irritation.

What Else Do the Socks Do?

Good socks help wick away sweat, keeping the legs dry. Not all socks are suitable for this. Socks made from 100% cotton do not have moisture-wicking properties. They absorb sweat but do not release it, making them feel wet and uncomfortable.

Which Material is Suitable?

Socks made from synthetic fabric are suitable for moisture management. This material absorbs sweat and quickly releases it into the air. A combination of synthetic fibers and cotton also works well. It is also important that an elastic material, such as elastane, is added to the socks. This makes the socks stretchable and easy to pull over shin guards.

Extra Protection

Well-fitting socks also protect the feet from blisters. Do you often suffer from blisters? Choose socks with extra padding and protective pads at the heel and toes. These features help prevent blisters.
