Rain pants
Properties
A rain pants ensures that both rain and wind stand no chance! In addition, it is important that the rain pants are breathable, but unlike the jacket, this is of secondary importance for rain pants. The legs sweat a lot less, making the moisture-wicking function much less important. Furthermore, it is handy if the pants are easy to put on and take off, so you don't have to take off your shoes. It is important that the pant legs can be adjusted to fit, to prevent rain from reaching the legs from the bottom of the pants. Many rain pants have a Velcro strip at the bottom.
The waterproofness of rain pants is indicated in mm water column. In the overview below you can see exactly what the different values mean.
| From 0 mm: | The rainwear is water-repellent, but not waterproof. |
| From 1,000 mm: | The rainwear repels water, but is not resistant to pressure. For example, if you sit on a wet chair, the rainwear will eventually leak. |
| From 2,000 mm: | The rainwear remains waterproof even during longer rain showers, but will still leak under pressure. |
| From 5,000 mm: | The rainwear is resistant to long and intense weather, even under high pressure the clothing remains waterproof. With very prolonged high pressure, the product may eventually leak. |
| From 15,000 mm: | The rainwear is resistant to heavy rain showers and even underwater the clothing keeps you dry. |
Washing Instructions
Has the rain pants become dirty? Then you would naturally want to clean it before storing the pants. You can clean the outside of the rain pants with a sponge and warm water. If you really can't get the dirt off, you can put the rain pants in the washing machine, but make sure to strictly follow the washing instructions. The washing instructions are often found on the label inside the pants. These instructions show how the pants can be washed without losing the waterproof function.
