Volleyball Clothing
Features of Volleyball Clothing
Volleyball clothing helps you perform optimally and achieve top performances. Therefore, you should not be hindered by this clothing. It is important that volleyball clothing is lightweight and drapes smoothly. Pinching, chafing, or irritation is unacceptable. Volleyball clothing must also be strong. It must be able to withstand rough treatment and multiple washes. Sportswear is often washed, and it should not be the case that the clothing quickly fades and loses its properties due to these washes.
An outfit for volleyball consists of a shirt, shorts, and socks. Shirts are available with long and short sleeves. There are also training jackets and even complete tracksuits that keep the body at the right temperature before and after training or a match.
Moisture-Wicking
It is important that your body stays dry while playing volleyball. You are very active, but also stand still at times. Under all circumstances, your body must remain at the right temperature to reduce the risk of injuries. The material from which volleyball clothing is made must therefore be able to wick moisture away quickly. Your body does not cool down due to perspiration but remains dry and comfortable. Synthetic materials, such as polyester, are most suitable. Polyester is good at wicking moisture, dries quickly, and is lightweight.
Cotton is only recommended in combination with a synthetic material. Cotton alone is not advisable because cotton absorbs moisture and does not wick it away. Cotton becomes wet when you sweat and thus becomes heavy and cold. Your body cools down and the risk of injuries increases.
Some brands have designed their own technology that adds the moisture-wicking property to the volleyball clothing. The brand Jako, for example, applies the KeepCool technology and the brand Erima the QuickDry technology. Both techniques ensure that your body remains dry and comfortable by wicking away perspiration.
Tips
It is important to wash your volleyball clothing soon after your training or match so that perspiration does not get a chance to penetrate the fabric. Do not use fabric softener. This can damage the technical fabrics of the clothing. Hang the clothing to dry.
