Grip and support
Football boots suitable for artificial turf have more and shorter studs than football boots suitable for natural grass pitches. This gives you good grip on the turf pitch and lets you move freely. The letters AG (Artificial Grass) after the product name indicate that the football boots are suitable for artificial turf. But football boots with the letters TF and FG are also suitable for playing on artificial turf. TF football boots are suitable for playing on hard surfaces. FG football boots are all-round football boots and therefore suitable for all surfaces.
Wearing grass boots on an artificial turf pitch
If you play football on an artificial turf pitch while wearing boots suitable for natural grass pitches, you run a greater risk of injury. Football boots suitable for grass pitches have different characteristics than turf shoes.
For example, football boots suitable for grass pitches have longer studs. These studs dig into the natural grass and provide good grip. On artificial turf, these studs cannot dig into the surface. That's why you need football boots with short studs on artificial turf. If you do play on the turf pitch with long studs, there's a good chance your feet will get 'stuck' when you want to turn or push off. This can lead to nasty injuries such as twisted knees and ankles.
Tips
Don't leave your football boots in your bag when you get home. Take them out of the bag so they can air properly. Clean the shoes with a soft brush.
