Testing Running Socks
Although there is a lot of information available about running shoes, running socks often don’t get the attention they deserve. You might not expect it, but good running socks are more important than you think! Unlike many regular socks, running socks offer extra support in areas where you need extra comfort. Many running socks also have breathability, allowing your feet to release heat (and sweat) effectively. By wearing the right running socks, you can avoid coming home with wet feet (and blisters).
Good Running Socks
It’s no surprise that your left and right foot aren’t identical, so why should the sock be the same? Many running socks come with an L and an R, indicating which sock is intended for your left foot and which is for your right foot. These special socks are anatomically shaped and thus offer optimal protection and support for your feet. Many runners choose to adjust their running socks depending on the weather conditions. Is it very cold outside? You can opt for high (and perhaps slightly thicker) socks that not only keep your feet warm but also your ankles and Achilles tendons! On warmer days, it may be preferable to wear low, thin running socks, allowing your feet to easily release their heat.
Tip
A running sock with a smaller size range (e.g., 43-44) fits your foot better than one with a larger size range (e.g., 43-46).
