Types and Sizes
There are many different types of socks, but which one should you wear with which shoe? It's important that the sock is higher than the shoe to prevent irritation and blisters on your feet. An exception to this rule are footies, which are designed to be “invisible” in your sneakers. Ankle socks are also great for wearing with sneakers, though you will often still see the top edge of the sock above the shoe. When wearing long pants, it doesn't really matter how high your socks are, as you can easily wear high socks with sneakers.
Material
Socks are made from soft materials, typically a combination of cotton, polyamide, and elastane. This blend ensures that the socks are comfortable and don't slide down easily.
Tip
There are also special sports socks, which are perfect for everyday use as well. These sports socks are often a bit more comfortable due to the use of mesh. The mesh material provides extra ventilation and has padding on specific pressure points of the foot.
