Kids rain jackets
To make sure your child stays dry during the hike, you can bring a rain jacket from Regatta or Helly Hansen. A rain jacket protects the body from cold raindrops, keeping it nice and warm. Many rain jackets have closable pockets, where you can store a phone or a snack, for example.
Rain poncho for kids
An alternative to a rain jacket from Regatta is a poncho: a type of cape you pull over the head, also over a backpack. Is it very windy? Then wearing a rain poncho isn't very practical, since the wind can blow it up.
Waterproof and water-repellent
The water column of a rain jacket from Helly Hansen indicates how waterproof it is:
- From 0 mm: water-repellent, but not waterproof.
- From 1,000 mm: keeps out water, but not resistant to pressure.
- From 2,000 mm: stays waterproof during longer rain showers.
- From 5,000 mm: resistant to long and intense weather.
- From 15,000 mm: resistant to extremely heavy rain showers.
Tips
Choose a rain jacket with reflective details so your child is clearly visible to people around them.
