Skating Clothing for Children

With the three-layer system, you're playing it safe! Is the child too warm? They can simply remove a layer! And once their body has adjusted, the jacket can be put back on.

The first layer of the three-layer system is thermal clothing, worn directly against the body. Thermal clothing regulates body heat and ensures that the body stays dry and fresh.

The second layer is often a fleece or pullover that helps retain heat. If your child tends to get warm easily, you might skip this layer. If you’ll be skating outside and it’s breezy, it’s a good idea to keep the pullover on!

The third layer is a windproof skating jacket. When skating, you’ll encounter more wind than you might expect! If you also plan to skate on natural ice, choose a jacket that’s both windproof and waterproof to protect against any precipitation.

Natural Ice vs. Artificial Ice

Skating outdoors is quite different from skating inside an ice rink! When going outdoors, it's wise to check the weather forecast in advance so you can adapt your child’s skating outfit accordingly. Is snow expected? Go for waterproof clothing! Is the temperature well below freezing? Make sure they wear an extra-thick pullover or sweater!
