Dry and Warm

The 3-layer system provides you with a good guide for deciding what to wear when you go skiing. By choosing these three layers correctly, you'll stay warm and dry while skiing, even when standing still. The first layer consists of a thermal set, including a thermal shirt and thermal pants. This layer sits closest to your skin, after your underwear.

The main purpose of a thermal set is to wick away sweat and keep your body warm. An insulating air layer forms between your skin and the thermal set, ensuring your body stays at the right temperature. A thermal set made from thinner fabric, which fits tightly around your body, focuses mainly on moisture wicking. A thermal set that is looser and made of thicker fabric focuses more on keeping your body warm. We recommend choosing a not-too-thick thermal set for skiing, as you'll be active and your body will generate warmth naturally.

The second layer is the insulating layer. This layer traps warmth and ensures that sweat is further transferred to the next layer. A ski pullover, fleece, or sweater is a suitable mid-layer to wear.

The third layer provides protection from snow, rain, and wind. A ski jacket is worn as the outer layer.

Material

Thermal sets are usually made from polyester or merino wool. The main properties of these fabrics are that they wick moisture well, are lightweight, and dry quickly. Merino wool is a type of wool that doesn't itch and stays fresh longer. Polyester holds its shape well. Flat seams and the addition of stretch offer even higher comfort.

Tip

Wash your thermal set according to the care instructions to maintain its quality. The instructions can be found on the label inside the thermal clothing.
