Goalkeeper gloves for women
Goalkeeper gloves provide grip and protection while keeping goal. Check out the women's range from Stanno and Erima.
Which goalkeeper gloves for which surface?
Just like with football boots, the surface you use them on also matters a lot for goalkeeper gloves! Are you using goalkeeper gloves meant for natural grass on artificial turf? Then the goalkeeper gloves will probably wear out a lot faster. Goalkeeper gloves for natural grass have a softer foam layer than goalkeeper gloves for artificial turf. Because of this soft foam layer they offer a lot of grip, but they will also wear out faster if you don't use them on the right surface. Do you mainly keep goal on artificial turf or indoors? Then it's best to choose so-called hardground goalkeeper gloves! These goalkeeper gloves have a firmer, more wear-resistant foam layer, so you'll enjoy them for longer. This doesn't necessarily mean that goalkeeper gloves for natural grass are unsuitable for use on artificial turf or indoors and vice versa, but the goalkeeper gloves will last longest if you use them on the surface they're intended for!
Goalkeeper gloves with or without fingersave
There are goalkeeper gloves with fingersave and without fingersave. Goalkeeper gloves with fingersave protect your fingers against bending backwards. Fingersave also offers protection against collisions or when someone steps on your hands with their studs. Goalkeeper gloves with fingersave have a kind of built-in board behind the fingers. This reduces the chance of your fingers getting injured. However, this board does give you less freedom of movement. So choose the goalkeeper gloves you feel comfortable with.
Which size goalkeeper gloves for women?
The size you need can differ per brand. That's why you'll find a size chart with the gloves, where you can check which size you need. The goalkeeper gloves are too small if there's already pressure on the seams when you simply have the gloves on. If a ball then hits the gloves, a lot of pressure is placed on the gloves and the seams can tear. So it's better to choose gloves that are a bit too big rather than too small.
The best goalkeeper gloves for women
Goalkeeper gloves come in different price ranges. The difference in price mainly comes from the thickness of the foam and whether or not they have fingersave. The thicker the foam, the more grip. The grip doesn't decrease if there are some wear marks visible on the foam. Only once the canvas of the glove shows through the foam is there reduced grip. You can still use the gloves as training gloves at that point. It's a good idea anyway to have a training pair and a match pair. That way you always have gloves with optimal grip during the match.
How do I maintain my goalkeeper gloves?
By maintaining your goalkeeper gloves the right way, you can significantly extend their lifespan. Clean the goalkeeper gloves after training or a match with lukewarm running water from the tap. Don't use a hard brush. Don't wring out wet gloves, but squeeze them out gently. Always leave the goalkeeper gloves a little damp. Wet, damp gloves improve grip and extend the lifespan of the gloves. If you're not using the gloves for a while, still get them wet occasionally to prevent them drying out and tearing. For example, place them in a damp towel for a while.
