What all needs to fit in a daypack?

Do you bring your own sandwich or find a restaurant along the way? Do you only bring your debit card or lug your wallet along the whole way? The bigger the bag, the more items fit in it and the heavier the bag will be. The recommended maximum weight of a day rucksack is 7kg, try to stay under that! Do you have specific wishes regarding compartments? Do you want, for example, a small pocket for your phone, a flat front pocket for a map, or a mesh pocket for a small bottle? If you know what you want, you can search specifically for a bag that suits you perfectly.

Is a daypack comfortable?

Think carefully about the temperature you'll be hiking in; might it be wise to buy a backpack with back ventilation? Or will it get cold, and is that warm backpack actually really comfortable? To ease the strain on your back, it's important to get enough support from the shoulder straps, the hip belt and any chest strap. It's also very important that the backpack isn't too big or too small, so it doesn't press and doesn't cause back problems. Read the specifications of the products carefully so you're not caught by surprise.

What's the best daypack?

Most backpacks are fitted with handy gadgets that make the hike a bit more pleasant. There are, for instance, backpacks with a water reservoir. These are designed so you don't have to keep grabbing your water bottle for a drink, but can simply drink through the hose instead. If it starts to rain, you'd rather not have all your things get wet, which is why there are also bags with a built-in rain cover. Doesn't your favourite bag have a built-in rain cover?
