Squash balls

There are different types of squash balls. The balls differ in size and bounce height:

  • Pro: black ball with 2 yellow dots. This ball is used in all international squash competitions.
  • Competition: black ball with 1 yellow dot. This ball has the same dimensions as the Pro, but bounces 10% more.
  • Progress: black ball without dot or black ball with red dot. This ball is 6% larger than the Pro and bounces 20% more. Max: blue ball without dot or black ball with blue dot: This ball is 12% larger and bounces 40% more.

The max and the progress are the fastest balls that bounce the hardest. These balls are especially suitable for beginners. The pro and the competition are the slowest balls and bounce the least. These balls are mainly suitable for advanced players.

Squash bags

A squash bag is a special bag to store all your squash gear in and is also called a tennis bag or competition bag. A squash bag protects your squash racket and ensures that you can transport it safely. Squash bags come in different sizes. Depending on how many rackets you want to take with you and what items you want to be able to carry in the bag, you choose the size of the bag.

Squash goggles

Squash goggles protect the eyes during squash. A good pair of squash goggles is shaped in a way that sweat cannot get into the eyes. In addition, the goggles prevent the ball from getting into the eyes if, for example, it is unexpectedly hit hard. Make sure that the temples of the goggles are easily adjustable so that they can fit snugly on the head. Furthermore, it is important that the goggles do not scratch easily and do not fog up quickly.

In the Netherlands, squash goggles are only mandatory for players up to 21 years old during official matches. Everyone is advised to wear squash goggles.

Dampeners

During squash, vibrations occur when the ball hits the strings of the racket. A dampener reduces these vibrations significantly, so that they vibrate as little as possible through the arm.

Tips

When you go squash, warm up first. The ball will also warm up and bounce better.
